HIT's a major hit with Amey's school caretakers and cleaning staff! One of the country’s leading support services providers, Amey, has been working closely with HIT Training – leading to 60 of Amey’s education sector employees in Northamptonshire successfully completing their NVQ Level 2 CSS Building Interiors programmes, whilst working at The Duston School at Duston, and in Northampton at Weston Favell School, Abbeyfield School, Kingsthorpe College and Northampton School for Girls. HIT Training learner wins Train to Gain Learner of the Year Award! Marie Brown, 73 years, thought that she would never be able to gain a qualification like any of her seven children. She was a kitchen assistant at the Tower Bridge Care Home in Southwark, where her manager encouraged her to do a Multi–Skilled Hospitality Level 2 qualification through Train to Gain. She has now been promoted to Assistant Chef and helps prepare the meals as well managing the kitchen in the Chef’s absence. Read more >
Dishing Up Great Pub Grub That's a National Hit!
Talented young chef and HIT Training learner Yarsley Bradley, was one of two runners–up in the national PubChef Food Excellence Awards 'Young Pub Chef of the Year'. Yarsley, from The Horse & Groom, Malmesbury, Wiltshire, reached the final where his dish of panfried breast of pheasant with confit leg of pheasant and seasonal vegetables impressed the judges, including Michellin–starred chef Tom Kerridge. Derbyshire School Support Staff Gain City & Guilds Professional Qualifications and Win Skills Award
Twenty–four staff from Pingle School in Swadlincote who had no formal job training, have recently completed HIT's training and assessment programme and been awarded City & Guilds qualifications, funded by the East Midlands Learning Skills Council. Their success also won the school the prestigoius Derbyshire 'Skills Xtra' Silver Award. Read more >
